This week has gone pretty well, workout-wise. I didn’t get in as many runs as I wanted, but I’ve been trying to go to more barre classes and don’t want to overdo things and get injured.
Here’s how my week went:
Monday – Rest day

Tuesday – Barre class
Wednesday – Barre class
I was so sore for this one, since this was my first time taking classes on back-to-back days. Some of my muscles that I’m not used to working were pretty tired for this class, too. I tried to make sure I refueled for recovery really well, which I think helped me be able to run the next day without much soreness.
Thursday – Tempo run, 3 miles
Splits: 10:45, 10:01, 9:40
I was feeling pretty good on Thursday, so I spontaneously decided to push a little harder after warming up and do a tempo run. I was really happy with how this run went and I finished feeling strong, especially when I picked things up at the end. Win!
Friday – Rest day
Saturday – “Long” run, 6 miles
Splits: 10:44, 10:35, 10:46, 10:57, 10:48, 10:34
It was such a pretty morning for a run. And I wore shorts! I prefer running early in the morning when it’s cooler so I’ve still been sporting tights for my runs lately, but it was warm enough for me to finally wear shorts in public.
This was the longest run I’ve done in a while since I haven’t really been training for anything. I was surprised that I felt so good during the run, especially toward the end, given my lack of training. But, after having trained for many longer races in the past, I think my body is still somewhat used to running longer distances. It’s always a nice feeling when you don’t totally lose what you worked hard to gain when you take a break from something.
Sunday – Planned: shorter easy run, barre class
