Happy Thursday, readers! I hope you’re well! I’m not quite so well–a cold is currently knocking me down. Nothing super horrible, just a sore throat and lots of feeling generally icky and a little achy. This means for the past few days, I’ve been on a mission of self care.
Does anyone else feel like they always get sick the week they have a lot going on? I picked up a few extra classes to teach this week, so I’ve been running around more than I typically do. Unfortunately, that means less time for self-care, which is probably part of the reason why I got sick in the first place. Colds always seem to come along at the worst times.

I am doing the best I can to take care of myself. Unfortunately as a fitness instructor I don’t get paid sick days, so I have to make do with the time I have between teaching and desk shift obligations. I’ve had a short break in the middle of my day every day, so I’ve been napping like it’s my (fourth) job. That means I’ve de-prioritized things like writing blog posts, which means instead of the helpful yoga post I wanted to write today, you’re reading this. I haven’t been on Periscope all week, which makes me sad; it’s quickly becoming my new favorite social media platform. And, I’ve been drinking herbal tea pretty much constantly, which if nothing else helps my throat feel better and helps keep me hydrated.
I guess my point here aligns with the whole “What You Can When You Can” movement. I know the things I absolutely have to do, and once those things are accomplished, i’m vegging out, trying to give my body the rest it needs to heal itself. No running for me this week, although if I’m feeling better this weekend I might go out on a short, easy jog. Right now it’s all about rest and recovery.
