Happy Monday, and happy final Monday of 2016! With just four days left in 2015, it’s a great time to start thinking about your goals for 2016, if you haven’t already. Last week, I wrote about how visualizing what you want your life to look like at the end of 2016 can help you set goals. Sometimes we know that we want our lives to change, but it can be overwhelming to decide what changes we want to make. Thinking about what your ideal life would look like is a great way to get started on setting goals.
Once you have an idea of what you want your life to look like, start to think through the actions you’ll need to take to make that life happen. What habits will you need to change? What are the daily or weekly actions that you’ll need to take?

Then, think about the actions that will make the greatest impact as you work to create the life you envisioned. It’s next to impossible to do a hundred things every day that will get you 100% of your way to your goal, but are there three things you could do every day that will get you 80% there? Choosing to focus on a few things that will have the greatest impact will make it easier for you to follow through on your goals.
The next big step: write down your goals and your action steps. Once it’s in writing, you’re more likely to follow through. Schedule in time in your calendar daily or weekly to work toward your goal. Share your goals with friends and family. Find someone to help keep you accountable. Make it easier for yourself to follow through on the steps you’ll need to reach your goal.
Want to start exercising on a regular basis? Schedule in your weekly workouts in your calendar, then ask a friend to come with you, or ask a family member to hold you accountable and get you out the door when you should be heading to the gym. Find a method of accountability that works well for you, whether that’s hiring a personal trainer or finding a workout buddy.
I hope that you’re able to accomplish some big things in 2016!
