Strength, whether it’s mental or physical, is something a lot of us strive to find. We focus on our weaknesses, our inability to run as fast or lift as heavy as our peers. Our avoidance of being in tough situations or having difficult conversations. Maybe it’s time that instead of focusing so much on how we don’t measure up, we start to think about how we are strong. Start to find your strength.
We often use the phrase, “You’re stronger than you think you are” in fitness classes. In fact, I have a tank top with the phrase printed on it. I’ve used it to encourage students in my yoga classes to find a deeper posture or hold just a little longer. You have the choice to back down when it’s tough or dig deep and hold strong. It’s ultimately up to you and whether or not you’re willing to tough it out and emerge stronger when you’re done.

Every struggle is an opportunity to find your strength. Every moment when you want to walk away from a difficult situation, you have a choice to walk away or to stay and fight for what you want. It’s often harder to fight for what’s important to you, but in the end, if it’s really that important, it’s worth fighting for. Whether it’s your health, a relationship, platonic or otherwise, or anything else in life, choose to stay strong and fight for the things worth fighting for.
On a related note, if you haven’t read Erin‘s post on walking through and staying strong through some really tough stuff in her life. It’s beautiful and definitely worth taking the time to read. I’m inspired by her story and hope you will be, too.
