I was so busy after the move and lately I’ve been working like a mad-person so I didn’t have a lot (well, any, really) of time to update the blog. I ran a couple of half marathons…
…but my training has been relatively lackluster. I just don’t do well with the heat and humidity. I had signed up to run a marathon in early fall, but the night before a long run I started crying because I didn’t want to wake up early and run all those miles in a heat.

If the thought of going on a run makes you want to cry, that’s a bad sign.
So I backed off a bit. I’ve been trying to run to make me happy and focusing on enjoying myself.
I was scheduled to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half yesterday, but I was feeling sick off and on all week and I felt pretty lousy on Saturday. I even went home from work an hour early. I tried snuggling in bed with my doggies…
…but ultimately decided that I shouldn’t push myself to run a race if I’m not feeling well. I remember running a marathon pace long run when I was starting to get sick back in spring of 2012 and that made me get really sick with a fever. Bad idea.
But, I do have some neat things on the horizon! I’ve been thinking about getting running coach certification for a while and I finally found an RRCA training session that I could go to!
So, about a month from now I’ll be a certified running coach! I think it will be nice to have someone in my running store available to answer questions about training (which I do anyway, but I’ll actually be all official about it now) and I’m hoping to write some basic training plans to post here. And I still am planning to post some yoga for runners videos, too, since I’m now officially a RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher with 200 hours of training) with Yoga Alliance.
Any running coaches out there? Where did you get your training?
Have you ever thought about training with a coach?
Have you ever had to skip a race because of illness or injury?
Seeing everyone post photos from the race and photos of their awesome finisher medals is such a bummer!
